Bad Bunny
For the third year in a row, Bad Bunny is the most-streamed artist on Spotify, and his album Un Verano Sin Ti, the first Spanish-language album to ever be nominated for Album of the Year at the Grammys, was streamed more often than any other in 2022. At the 2022 Billboard Latin Music Awards last September, Bad Bunny reigned supreme, racking up 23 nominations and taking home nine awards, including Artist of the Year, Tour of the Year for his record-breaking El Último Tour Del Mundo, and Album of the Year for Un Verano Sin Ti.
Karol G
Karol G won the award for Billboard’s top Latin female artist in 2021, and she was back again in 2022 with a nomination for Artist of the Year alongside male powerhouses Bad Bunny, Farruko, Jhayco, and Rauw Alejandro. Although she didn’t come away with a win in that category, she did take home three trophies: Hot Latin Songs Artist of the Year, Female; Top Latin Albums Artist of the Year, Female; and Hot Latin Song of the Year, Vocal Event, for “Mamiii,” her wildly popular collaboration with Becky G. In addition, her chart-topping album KG0516 was nominated for Top Latin Album of the Year.
Rauw Alejandro
Rauw Alejandro burst onto the scene in 2021 with “Todo De Ti,” a disco-pop reggaeton banger that drew heavily from the musical stylings of the ‘80s and won Latin Pop Song of the Year at the 2022 Billboard Latin Music Awards. Ever since the song amassed more than a billion Spotify streams, he’s been in demand as a collaborator, working with other Latin stars such as Bad Bunny, Jennifer Lopez, and Shakira, with whom he received yet another nomination for Latin Pop Song of the Year for “Te Felicito.” He was also nominated for Artist of the Year, and his chart-topping album Vice Versa was among the nominees for Top Latin Album of the Year.
Enrique Iglesias
Enrique Iglesias’s long and very successful career has made him one of the most well-known Latin singers of all time. In recent years, he’s branched out and produced tracks with more danceable rhythms, such as the megahit “Bailando.” He won Billboard’s Latin Solo Pop Artist of the Year in 2022, and his Final (Vol. 1) was nominated for Pop Album of the Year.
Christina Aguilera
Ever since she rocketed to stardom in the early 2000s, Christina Aguilera has had one of the most recognizable voices in the business. With her signature growl and power-packed vocal acrobatics, she never fails to blow audiences away. In 2022, she released Aguilera, her first Spanish-language project since 2000’s Mi Reflejo. Showing her understanding of the contemporary Latin music space, Aguilera collaborated with some of the genre’s biggest stars on this latest work, including Becky G, Nicki Nicole, Christian Nodal, and Ozuna. One of the standout songs from the album is “La Reina,” a stunning ranchera tune that highlights her incredible vocal prowess.
